Waiting For Louise
(Ulli Heiser, www.wp.rocktimes.de, Dezember 2016)

Rusty Nails

Songs To The Siren

Greta On The Ocean | Michael Mann | 2020
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | Greta’s on the ocean, she’s sailing to the land of money Greta’s on the ocean The scary helicopters - are following everywhere But she don’t even seem to care Sailing on, sailing to the land of money Sailing On Sailing on, to deal with scum is not that funny But don’t let the headwind, don‘t let the headwind bring you down The man in the control room - working on his secret plan Alone in his control room His glory days are over; he doesn’t even seem to notice That he will soon be washed away Sailing On … Young man in his hotrod - taking it quite personally Young man in his hotrod As if the girl is trying to steal away his favorite toy, But she has never heard of that boy Sailing On … |

Strange Times | Michael Mann | 2020
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | When all wrong words make perfect rhymes With your bad habits (you’re) feelin’ good sometimes How could you tell - that something is wrong? When you tear a page out of someone’s book When you hear a song but you don’t get the hook … How could you know – if the message gets through? These are strange times And you really wonder why You’re always way too late It is a strange land The yellow-faced trickster holds the crown He’s not a crackerjack Never gonna give it back When your compass needle is spinning ‘round When you lose connection to the underground How can you tell – above from below When you spread a rumor with no truth inside And your sources are all mystified How can you deny it’s all conspiracy? These are strange times And you really wonder why You’re always way too late It is a strange land The yellow-faced trickster holds the crown He’s not a crackerjack Never gonna give it back |

Im Hafen Von Saigon | Michael Mann, Rainer Rienäcker | 2020/1984
Band | Waiting For Louise

Rain Meditation | Michael Mann | 2020

Text | Talking 'bout the future Talking 'bout the future Talking 'bout the future Talking 'bout the future The prophets are doin' it for free The honor is for the visionary The futurologist likes his monthly check And the politician thinks 'What the heck?' |
||
Lazy | Michael Mann, Johannes Lehmann | 2018
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | People say that all my walls are yellowed Pull myself together, paint them white Don't think that my rooms need renovation Took me quite some time to get them right Tell my fakebook friends that I am lazy Trying to avoid a needless move Does not matter if they think I'm crazy Took me quite some time to get that groove Sometimes I am close to being lucky Feeling like a sparrow in a tree Do not get that feeling very often Troublemakers chasing after me Times long gone my car appeared quite shiny Now it's look will make you all depressed Own a cell phone really just for phoning Wear my clothes for nothing than be dressed All my friends are going on vacation Posting pics from nearly ev'rywhere While I'm just a slacker on the sidewalk Keep on rockin’ in my rockin’ chair Sometimes I am close to being lucky Feeling like a sparrow in a tree Do not get that feeling very often Troublemakers chasing after me |

Moon Sun Time | Michael Mann, Johannes Lehmann | 2018
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | Moon Howling at the moon Shining so bright and clear Howling at the moon Sun Aiming for the sun Lighting your face, my dear Aiming for the sun Time Nothing flies like time Yearning will disappear Nothing flies like time |
||
Mr. Sisyphus | Michael Mann | 2017
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | I would walk on the water And I would swim through the snow I would do a lot of things You never would know But I feel like Mr. Sisyphus Just rollin’ my stone I would prance like a peacock I would muse like a mole But you don’t pay no attention When I’m down in my hole And I still feel like Mr. Sisyphus Just rollin’ my stone Sometimes I wish you’d love me A little bit more than I love you So I wouldn’t have to try so hard Just keeping up with you ------ Sometimes I wish I’d need you A little bit less than you need me And try to keep my self-esteem When I’m in your company You are careless and you’re reckless You’re in an ignorant state All my struggles for attention You will never appreciate And I still feel like Mr. Sisyphus Just rollin’ my stone |
||
Slow Drag | Michael Mann | 2016
Band | Waiting For Louise
The Devil's Got My Number | Michael Mann | 2015
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | The devil’s got my number, I don’t know when or whence But I know it’s better to be polite Cause the devil’s not a patient man And the devil’s got my number He says he’s got a problem With the old man up in the sky Who limits him and smothers him But never seems to dignify What the devil is doin’ It’s somehow irritating And a little bit scary When the devil takes you as his fellowman Though you don’t feel very evil Or bad or underhanded But when the devil calls you should be at command When I’m talking with the devil We don’t get too profound He likes that I’m not asking much He thinks we share a common ground The devil’s got my number He’s bored with all the satanists And death metal bands Who worship him with stolidness When they try to be his best friends The devil’s got my number Sometimes he thinks he’s bored A simple prison warden For all bad guys and all the naughty girls How could he be ignored And underestimated There has to be some credit after all Sometimes he calls me Marty And I better not disagree When I ask him why he picked me up He says he likes my tranquillity The devil’s got my number |

Soldier Boy | Michael Mann | 2014
Band | Waiting For Louise
(Stand: 08.06.2014) |
||
Text | Little boy, at the age of twelve, maybe he was thirteen, Dressing like a soldier for carnival A khaki-shirt and leather boots A red bandana and a wooden gun When he was looking in the mirror: he was scared what he could see A kind of person that he never ever wanted to be So he made a promise to himself and he swore he never would renege Never in his life, oh, never in his life He would pick up a gun I met the old lady at the Red Victorian On Haight Street by the Frisco Bay She’s living there for more than 40 years Offering bed & breakfast for a peaceful world She has a book called “time capsule”, she handed it to me To write down a few lines about my personal experience with peace So I wrote about the soldier boy and the promise he never had reneged Never in his life, oh, never in his life He had picked up a gun |

Sequoia Tree | Michael Mann | 2013
Band | Waiting For Louise
||
Text | Sequoia Tree, sequoia tree, If you could only speak to me What kind of story could you tell From high up in the foggy mountains? You are the largest living thing on earth You are around since the days of Jesus birth But is that of any relevance? Do you think that you are special? I’m sitting here for hours Just staring at this magic tree It’s not the point that you’re so tall and old But I really like your personality Sequoia Tree, sequoia tree, If you could only speak to me What kind of story could you tell From high up in the foggy mountains? Then white men came across the Great Divide Seeking their fortunes on the other side They cut down a lot of your fellow friends And gave (martial) names to the rest of you And don’t you think it’s kinda strange To bear the name of a general? I’m sure you don’t give a damn Because all what people do is so ephemeral Sequoia Tree, sequoia tree, If you could only speak to me What kind of story could you tell From high up in the foggy mountains? |

I Love The Rain | Michael Mann | 2012
Band | Waiting For Louise
||
Text | I love the rain In my home town I love the rain That makes everything look so fresh and green I had to drive through sunny California To find it out That I love the rain In my home town California is so beautiful It looks so fine But I really miss the green fields of my hometown in the flatlands So I think: I – I love the rain I’ve been to the island Where the emerald lizards dwell I love to stroll on sandy beach The sleepless nights beside the hippie hotel But after a while my soul’s getting thirsty It’s aching for the colour green And I need some rain To wash myself clean Formentera is so beautiful It looks so fine But I really miss the green fields of my hometown in the flatlands So I think: I – I love the rain |

Some People | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 2012
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | Some people never smile And then others, they won’t kiss Some never ever ask for more What they don’t know they don’t miss Some people won’t play games Because they hate so much to lose Some people don’t want anything Because they hate it to choose Me, I’m just sitting here, trying to figure it out If there’s something I could do or say or try But I’m just another lamb, that’s lost in the crowd While the crowd is getting ready to move on Some people never strike a match ‘Cause their fingers they might burn There are others that won’t fly a kite Because the wind it might turn Some people never leave their homes ’Cause they’re afraid to get lost Some people never fall in love ’Cause they don’t want to pay the cost Me, I’m just sitting here, trying to figure it out If there’s something I could do or say or try But I’m just another lamb, that’s lost in the crowd While the crowd is getting ready to move on Better sayin’ nothing Than sayin’ something wrong Or takin’ your chances Better play along Me, I’m just sitting here, trying to figure it out If there’s something I could do or say or try But I’m just another lamb, that’s lost in the crowd While the crowd is getting ready to move on |

Amsterdam Record Shop | Michael Mann | 2012
Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | We were too young for Woodstock And too clever for disco sound When we started our first rock’n’roll band Just a bunch of kids - that were hangin’ around We had no clue of tuning a guitar In fact we had no real guitars at all Some cardboard boxes and gut string axes Our spirits were high - but our ambitions small And when the weekend came around, We were headin’ for that sound We took the tram to the big city We were on our way To have a fine day At the Amsterdam Record Shop Were once was a record shop Has been a sex shop and a gambling hall But they tore all the buildings down And now you can find there a huge shopping mall I have no clue what all the people do When they hustle and bustle in this shopping heaven And I wish that I could turn back time And I wish that it would be like Seventy-seven And when the weekend came around, We were headin’ for that sound We took the tram to the big city We were on our way To have a fine day At the Amsterdam Record Shop |

Ballad Of Blitzen Trapper & The Scorpions | Michael Mann | 2012
Band | Waiting For Louise
Vielleicht "Nicht Kleckern sondern Klotzen"? |
||
Text | I can hardly say that I was falling in love When I met that girl at some friend’s party She was from the kind one can hardly find And so I wanted to know her better We found a lot of things to talk about (but mainly) She was talking bad about her ex-lover Who had treated her bad and was driving her mad And still I wanted to know her better So I asked her to take a trip with me to that the rock’n’roll club To see that new band from America And all along the way she had so much to say She was complaining ’bout her new lover Not exactly what I wanted to talk about (I mean) The pros and cons of another man While she was talking a lot I just kept my mouth shut And still I wanted to know her better She said: “Isn’t it funny, he’s got some tickets, too? Two first-class-tickets for a Scorpions show!” She wasn’t sure if it’s right to accept his invite But still I wanted to know her better Blitzen-Trapper played a special show I was happy to enjoy it with that girl by my side I watched her move her feet to that excellent beat But I couldn’t keep the Scorpions out of my head |

Awesome View | Michael Mann | 2010
Band | Waiting For Louise (done)
Info | Tagebuch eines Liedes: |
||
Text | You can say - that I like you, girl, a lot It don’t mean - that I’m with you on the spot But I’m just open for things to come And I’m sure that datin’ you is fun I stop my bike - beside the mountain’s awesome view I realize - I’d like to share that moment with you My odometer says five times four And there’s a longing I can’t ignore: To send a little message to you Wishin’ you could be there, too You can say - that I like you, girl, a lot It don’t mean - that I’m with you on the spot And I’m hopin’ for things to come But it’s more like being on the run Maybe I can send a message to you Hopin’ you could see me through |

Killing Time (Birdsong Pt. II) | Michael Mann, Johannes Lehmann | 2010
Band | Waiting For Louise
Info | Tagebuch eines Liedes: |
||
Text | When the killer is just killing time And won’t go shootin’ anymore When he figures out that no one needs A bouncer by the door The killer is just killing time Won’t go shootin’ anymore There are options to consider now And others to ignore The rider was just riding home When they threw him off the track He tried to find redemption But the load’s still on his back The rider was just riding home When they threw him off the track To spurn his fortune lavishly Didn’t help to get it back When the keeper is just keepin’ on To watch the open door Though wind and rain explore the space And crack the castle's floor When the keeper is just keepin’ on To watch the open door Whose key is buried in my mind And nothing left but lore |

Band | Waiting For Louise
Text | When all secrets are unravelled And there’s nothing left to do There is still a chance of looking back On the things that we’ve gone through When all secrets are unravelled And there’s nothing left to do Can you cheer me up, when my mood is down? Will you try to pull me through? |

Thoughts To An Old Friend | Michael Mann, Werner Garden | 2009
Band | Waiting For Louise (done) Rusty Nails
||
Text | It’s a time and a place right now And the evening is getting late We feel easy and we smile about The stories we create It’s been a long, long time But we had it – together – Together like when we were In the days of our youth Together we were dreaming of A new world coming soon We had the innocence The music and the trust – together – Life was easy then And the spirits were high And there for there was There was not so much to say But then we’ve been turned around And realised how hard it is To survive in a working world And compromise and to exist The world keeps on turning And the years have gone quite fast It was all about paying bills And raise the children well We lost some of our pride And the worries never end But in between this worries There are moments like now |

Furious | Michael Mann | 2009
Band | Waiting For Louise (done)
Info | Tagebuch eines Liedes: |

Text | A phone call the evening like a rumbling in the air You start to talk about, talk about this and that But I don’t want - to talk about that And I don’t want - to hear about About what is on your mind wouldn’t make me curious What is in your dreams couldn’t make me furious I don’t wanna know – whatever happened to Jack and Jill I don’t wanna know – who’s got married and who’s got ill I don’t wanna know - what makes you curious I don’t wanna show – that it makes me furious in a way That I can’t talk – talk about (that) That we can’t walk – just walk about There are two kind of situations I can’t handle them very smart First one is when we’re together and second one when we’re apart it makes me curious when we’re apart it makes me furious |

Sad Marie | Michael Mann, Susanne Kowalsky | 2009
Band | Waiting For Louise
Info |
|
||
Text | There was nothing special in their lives Just kids going to school Kids that got lost, ages ago They didn't want each other to know About their feelings So many things happened And as years went by Marie nearly forgot What she was looking for Nobody knows exactly why but Suddenly, she found what she was looking for So happy she couldn't believe So happy he couldn't believe They met again Long time ago tomorrow, again Sad Marie will have forgotten by then For a reason he could not explain He felt scared For a reason he could not explain He let her know all about his life But felt scared And asked her to step out of his life It was their destiny They didn't want each other to know About their feelings Long time ago tomorrow, again Sad Marie will have forgotten by then |

Perfect Day | Michael Mann | 2009
Band | Waiting For Louise
||
Text | Met that little girl On a Friday morning In the big store, standing behind the counter She took my pick-up-ticket and gave me her smile She told me that this was her first day She was not sure if she was doin’ everything alright I told her “Don’t worry, ‘cause nobody’s perfect Even on a perfect day” So the smile of that girl started my perfect day While the weather was getting better and better I started a ride on my motorbike I went down to the second hand record store I wasn’t searchin’ for something special Just scrolling through the vinyl stacks When I found that record back from 1969 It was “Travelin’” by the Savage Rose Although I must admit I never have been searchin’ for it That pretty little record brightened up my perfect day Back on my motor bike I took the long way home Cruisin’ down the alleys, the green fields passing by When the warm wind was blowing round my face I felt I was on top of the highest place Then I realized: this was just a perfect day Just takin’ a ride on a perfect day Just takin’ a ride on a perfect day |

Text | Sometimes while I’m sleepin’ I know what it’s all about Sometimes while I’m sleepin’ I’ve got the master plan Sometimes I am sleepin’ Like a little baby child When I awake in the mornin’ There’s just a glimpse And I can’t hardly remember anything To catch a glimpse of hidden things To know what’s all about To walk a road with no direction sign And never go astray And always be the first to know What’s it all about But when I awake in the mornin’ There’s just a glimpse And I can’t hardly remember anything |

Text | Moved along a passage - for many years Tried to be on time - on the other side Never wasted zeal - on lookin’ ‘round 'til my eyes a reason found - to Take some time – and focus new Onto a different world – beside my road Take some time – and focus new Onto a different world – beside my road (To) see what they could find Winter darkened grey –with snow, fog or cold rain Landscape is not inviting Lights only shine – out of people’s homes And from cars passing by In spring lights and air – mostly clean Look how new life is starting Farmer’s tractors – builder’s cranes Painting on new pictures I see The summer, I’m driving – the same old way The wind blows round my head Warm breeze – let me smell the air Oh dear, it’s so exciting Autumn reached me – with different moods Lots of things are finished Harvest done - days are shorter The circle is complete So all in all it’s motion The best you can receive Carefully free and ready to drown Little freedom, live on in me! |

New Tricks For Old Dogs | Michael Mann | 2008
Band | Waiting For Louise
Ich sage nur: "Long May You Run". |
||
Text | Black old dog is hangin’ ‘round my door He’s not strolling thru the fields anymore Stretches his belly towards the sun That’s his little way of having fun He’s been there He’s done that He’s thinking of the good old days When it was easy just to make your way CHORUS: Sometimes it’s getting much too dreary And the barnyard offers no more kicks And even though he’s feelin’ much too weary Oh sometimes – yes, sometimes: Even old dogs got to learn new tricks George and Terry are working on construction They work all day, from dawn to dusk And late at night in their sleazy hotel They have some pills and beers and sleep quite well But now and then, Occasionally They’re thinking of the good old day(s) When it was easier to feel O.K. CHORUS: Sometimes it’s getting much too dreary And the booze will get them no more kicks Even though they’re feelin’ much too weary Oh sometimes- yes, sometimes: Even old dogs got to learn new tricks Carl takes Peggy out each Saturday night They go to town and they act quite polite She picks the film, he pays the bill They don’t talk much, they just keep still And the radio Plays “Caroline No” They hum along with that old refrain And take a trip down memory lane CHORUS: Sometimes it’s getting much too dreary And the past will get them no more kicks Even though they’re feelin’ much too weary Oh sometimes- yes, sometimes: Even old dogs got to learn new tricks New tricks for old dogs … |

Ghost Of Your Past | Michael Mann | 2008
Band | Waiting For Louise
Zumindest in meiner Erinnerung. |

Text | Tuesday Morning in the sleepy town I was on my way, walking round with my dog She was standing by the grocery And then she put her eyes on me She said “Hi”, I said “Hey, Are you feeling good?” – She said “I am O.K.” She came back just the other day She told me that she had to stay for a while She talked about where she had been And all the places she had seen She claimed that no one’s around no more And all good people left for sure And I just thought: how could that be? This “no one” is including me So I just grabbed my dog And carried on with my own walk And wished you all the best It feels pretty funny to talk to a stranger That looks like a lover from long time ago But you better make peace with that ghost of your past There is no point in that A few weeks later in that smokey club I saw her again, hangin’ ‘round with those boys She never would appreciate At least that’s what she always said I tried a little bit more to catch her eye But she would give it no reply So I stopped looking at And carried on with my own chat And wished her all the best It feels pretty funny to notice a stranger … That looks like a lover from long time ago But you better make peace with that ghost of your past There is no point in that |

Small Town Blues | Michael Mann | 2007
Band | Waiting For Louise (done) Rusty Nails
||
Text | When you were just a little boy Playin’ in the woods, playin’ with toys Did you have a dream about what could happen? You were sitting by the riverside Watching all the ships go by Looking for the day that you would get away ... From this dirty mess From this wasted youth And now you must confess That it’s the simple truth: You got the smalltown blues The jobs were rough and they were spare They didn’t get you anywhere But hey – why complainin’? The girls were pretty, some were smart But didn’t try to break your heart They were looking for the day that they would get away ... From this dirty mess ... The small town blues won’t get you there Never, ever, anywhere The small town blues - your destiny Your only friend and company And now that you’re a broken old man Dealin’ no longer with that plan Did you ever knew that this could happen? Still sitting by the riverside You watch the ships and realize You missed the day that you could get away ... From this dirty mess ... |

Song To A Tattler (From Room 5 11) | Michael Mann | 2007
Band | Waiting For Louise (done)
Zwei voneinander unabhängige Textfragmente aus meinem kleinen "Büchlein" (eigentlich eher eine Computerdatei) vom November 2006 ("Nothing Last Forever ...") und vom Februar 2007 ("If You Were A Singer ...") wurden grob zusammengestrickt. From Room 109 At The Islander On Pacific Coast Highway". |
||
Text | If you were a singer And I a little song Would you keep on singin' Until we get along? And if you were a river And I a little boat Would you keep on flowin' Until we reach the coast? You say: “Nothing Lasts Forever And Nothing Ends At All” I say: “You’re acting like a shining light But would you help me when I fall?” If you were a painter And I the colour blue Would you keep on painting Until you see me through? If you were the winter wind And I am walking through the snow Would you keep on pushing me To the end of the road? You say: “Nothing Lasts Forever And Nothing Ends At All” I say: “You’re acting like a shining light, but would you help me when I fall?” If you are a hunter And I am just a prey Won’t you keep on stalkin’ me Or let me run away? And if I am a believer And you are just a lie Would you still play tricks on me When we see eye to eye? You say: “Truth gets overrated, same with honesty” I say: “You’re acting like a tattler, so please don’t talk at me” |

No Words | Michael Mann | 2005
Band | Waiting For Louise
||
Text | Just another song I used to sing And I don’t have no words, no words at all There is no story and there is no bitter end Something I could talk about, something that will make me shout There is no matter of complaining No reason for feeling black or blue It’s out of focus – and out of date And I don’t have no words, I don’t have no words at all Could I sing about the most depressing problems of the world Without talking like a damned know-all? Or should I sing about my daily grind The places that we all could find? You don’t need my help, don’t need my help just to recall Just another song that I should sing, still has no words at all Got rhythm and got harmony and even a sweet melody It’s just another song I’ve got, just another song I’ve got to sing So won’t you be so kind to break my heart? Pretend you love me, tear my heart apart? You’ll set the theme, when you get into my dream Then I know what to talk about Could I sing … |
||
Jennifer Cool | Michael Mann | 2005
Band | Waiting For Louise
||
Text | I never met a girl like Jennifer, so far When the working day’s done, she’s the queen of the bar… That’s Jennifer, yes, Jennifer Each working day, right after-hours The barroom is a bed of flowers for Jennifer, yeah, for Jennifer I really must admit it’s true She is something special, she is one of the few could turn each man into a fool They call her Jennifer Cool I don’t love her and she don’t love me something on which we both agree Jennifer, me and Jennifer From time to time, just now and then She’ll pick me up and I’m her man Jennifer, yeah, Jennifer I really must admit it’s true She is something special, she is one of the few To make of me another fool I call her Jennifer Cool |

Sophie's Tune | Michael Mann | 1999
Band | Waiting For Louise (done)
Multicoloured Darkness | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1999
Band | Waiting For Louise (done) Rusty Nails
||
Text | It’s cold outside and raining, the stage set for a band The barman’s tall and handsome, black curls, California tan Candy’s throwing glances at him every now and then When she’s orderin’ tequilas for herself and a friend The manager’s a big one, she’s standing at the bar Talkin’ thru a cellphone to the singer in his car He says he’s not that far away, but he’s stuck in a traffic jam The band will start without him, they’re doin’ the best they can In the multicoloured darkness Multicoloured night In the multicoloured darkness Shine your light Yoyo he got dreadlocks, he’s bouncin’ up and down Drinkin’ and a-splashin’ his lager all around He’s buzzin’ and he’s happy and he’s givin’ away some grins Tryin’ to steal a kiss from every girl that smiles back at him Well, Tom he never smiles, he’s only here to kill some time When he’s ready with the slot-machine he will take another pint There’s nothin’ on the box so he came here to ease his mind He won’t talk to nobody, he’s just this way declined In the multicoloured darkness… Well, Kara’s walking over to the boy she knew back when His girlfriend isn’t happy just to see them talk again She moves over to the bar to get herself another gin There’s Yoyo standin’ in her way and she’s grinnin’ back at him |

Maybe I Wouldn't Want That Anyway | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1997/2018
Band | Rusty Nails (done) Waiting For Louise
||
Text | Angel never showed me her tears well I don't blame her for that It's just that since she smiled all the time I never knew what she was really at I always wondered what was going on behind that lovely face Now you say you never told me 'cause you thought: Maybe I wouldn't want that anyway Come on Angel, Angel tell me Can you see me fly Big jet plane heading for the sun High up in a clear blue sky Well, Lisa and I we lay in bed next to each other awake all night Simply watching not touching and I bet you don't believe it but it sure felt right She said I'm sorry I don't feel like making love and I hope that's OK and I said yeah and I thought: Maybe I just wouldn't want that anyway Hey-hey, Lisa, Lisa tell me Can you see me fly Big jet plane heading for the sun High up in a clear blue sky Katie said she didn't love me but she said wanted a screw Well Katie's kinda nice and she looked into my eyes and whispered how 'bout you? Well it was wild for a while and then she said she didn't wanna go away And I said honey don't worry 'cause: Maybe I just wouldn't want that anyway Hey-hey, Katie, Katie tell me Can you see me fly Big jet plane heading for the sun High up in a clear blue sky |

City Of Ruins | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1996
Band | Rusty Nails | ||
Text | Broken windows crumbled walls Faded curtains and closed down stores There's an icy wind that roams the streets Freezing on every face that I meet But there's a place where we will meet: And we're gonna dance in this city of ruins Sing our song to this city of ruins Let me see you smile baby hold me tight So let's dance together in this city tonight You rang the bell the bell of freedom and peace rang the bell they just called the police you got cornered and they locked you up ring it out loud they couldn't make you stop You tore down the curtain grew your hair fire out your wild 'n raging songs against any kind of war We're gonna dance in this city of ruins Sing our song to this city of ruins Let me see you smile baby hold me tight So let's dance together in this city tonight We are dancing in this city of ruins Sing this song to the city of ruins Wanna make you see like a little child 'Cause behind these walls there's a heart still beating wild |
||
Sylvie On The Roller-Coaster | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1994
Band | Rusty Nails | ||
||
Miracles | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1993
Band | Rusty Nails (done) Waiting For Louise
Text | Well, you believe in miracles Now, you know well that I don't Used to believe in wonderland But now Wonderland got sold Way out in the distance I saw someone with your face Slowly getting nearer But I looked some other way Now the mirror has been broken And the toy doll got no heart How far can you go? Well, I saw you just the other day I saw you in your car Saw you in the movies just how did you get that far Saw you at the cross-roads Just when I lost your track Now you're way out on the ocean I wonder if you're coming back There was fire there was water In between now there were you How far can you go? Ah, you take things as they come my friend And you forget them as they go But then, what you really need my love I don't think you'll ever know Oh, well some have called you a sinner And some others called you a saint You're always caught between attraction and fear Though you never feel the pain How far can you go? |
||
What Are You Getting At? | Michael Mann | 1992
Band | Rusty Nails | ||
Text | Sometimes you make me feel so good And other times feel so bad Sometimes you make me happy But most of all I'm only getting mad Sometimes you say you love me And other times you say that you don't Sometimes you say you stay with me But I know many moments That I think you won't 'Cause I've seen a lot of your books I've read about your film I like the taste of your hair the ideas that you wear They are the best I've ever seen I'm not so sure What you're getting at What are you getting at Sometimes I think I love you, too Other times I think that I don't Sometimes I'd like to talk to you But I know many moments That I think I won't When you're not near I long to see you Till that longing gets too much I phone you up late at night Like cat and dog we start another fight 'Cause I've seen a lot of your books… Everytime I think of you My heart starts beating faster But when it comes to talk to you We end up in desaster And I'm not so sure Not so sure What you're getting at What are you getting at |

Sorry Laura | Michael Mann | 1991
Band | Rusty Nails | ||
Text | I'm sorry, Laura For what I did last night So sad it happened I acted like a little child I miss you, Laura I scared myself when I scared you Really miss you, my true lover Guess there's nothing anymore I could do I let you go didn't say good night Or good-bye or at least I love you Thinking of the man that was so cool last night Hard to see but it really was me I'm sorry, Laura For all the crap I said So sorry, my dear friend So little reason such a bitter end I need you, Laura Can't you see the state I'm in Please help me, Laura Won't you kiss me like I've never been Maybe I'm hooked on always being right Makes me sometimes start a crazy fight I sticked to my view you were hurt so bad Got what I wanted but lost what I had |
||
Little Black Car | Bernd Baumgart, Michael Mann | 1991
Band | Rusty Nails (done) Waiting For Louise
Text | In a little black car In a small back street There's a small black man Sitting in the back seat You know he's got neat cut, Short black hair He's a master in disguise He could be anywhere If he wants you he will find you And your just as good as dead Maybe he's right behind you But you wouldn't notice that You can cry you can pray You can jump you can stay You can run you can hide You can even try to fight He won't alert you He's gonna thrill you He won't hurt you 'Cause he's just gonna kill you If he can he's gonna shoot you If he can't he'll use a spell You know some kind of voodoo Evil powers from hell He may be from another planet He may not be from this world And for all I know or care This man could even be a girl She won't alert you She's gonna thrill you She won't hurt you 'Cause she's just gonna kill you He's a master in disguise and before you realize He's gonna place you in front of a mirror and then Kill you before your own eyes He's gonna kill you |

Picture Postcard | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1990
Band | Waiting For Louise (done) Rusty Nails
Info | Text und Musik von Micha, mit Unterstützung von Bernd. Die Postkarte gab es wirklich. Das Mädel natürlich auch.
Text | Coming home from my daily routine Same old places same old scenes All day working got me tired and mad feeling hardly better than half dead Finally at home I opened the door Bills and letters all on the floor When a picture postcard from overseas Came as a total surprise to me Refrain: I started burning I'd like to get there too All that yearning Stirred up by you And I'm on fire I'd like to be there too My desire Stirred up by you Say you're feeling better than ever before Taking a stroll on that distant shore Not doing anything just doing fine Simply having a real good time Refrain Turning back to my daily routine Start the TV and the coffee machine Put the bills in the bin I don't care at all Pin the postcard on the wall Coda: But there are two fine reasons I'd like to be there too One is New Zealand The other one... That could be you That should be you And I know that it would be you |

Crazy Cobra And The Jaguar Car | Bernd Baumgart, Michael Mann | 1989
Band | Rusty Nails (done) Waiting For Louise
Info | Text von Bernd, Musik von Micha und Bernd.
Text | There was an empty bed There was an empty shower There was an empty envelope But it was full of power There was a crazy cobra There was a Jaguar car There was a laser razor Tried to kill my guitar But when you told me That you loved me I was scared There was a sexy preacher On an icy road There was a hairy creature So afraid of the cold But when you told me That you loved me I was scared Well you know Some show their feelings And some show their slides You showed me your brand new car And you invited me right inside |

Talking Big | Michael Mann | 1989
Band | Waiting For Louise (done) Rusty Nails
Text | Sometimes I wonder how to just get by And everything drives me mad I need something just like a miracle Or I'm not sure if I could carry on There is something coming to my mind And I guess it could turn me on If you would try to be just a little more kind I'm sure that it would turn me on And you might think, Oh my Oh what a crazy guy Just talking big 'bout heart and soul I got news for you You're not getting through So count me out of your game You're looking kind of strange don't trust in me As if it's just a chestnut joke The doubt is written on your face For me it's like an open book Once it seemed that I could turn you on You made it clear you were drawn to me But have I ever got that feeling right Or was it only fantasy Now you're tired of All that same old stuff Just talking big 'bout heart and soul I got news for you You're not getting through So count me out of your game Why do you act in this peculiar way And raise those walls around yourself I was afraid just like you I guess I must accept it's true Been a bore all by myself most of the time a cross-patch, too At last I've got to drop that stuff 'Cause now I've got a crush on you Do you still think, Oh my Oh what a crazy guy Just talking big 'bout heart and soul Why not try a smile And share that risk for a little while Don't leave me standing in the rain Don't you leave me standing Standing in the rain |

When Love Grows Wings | Michael Mann, Bernd Baumgart | 1988
Band | Rusty Nails | ||
Text | What are you gonna do When your love grows wings What are you gonna do When your love grows wings When your love grows wings and flies away Nothing's gonna make it come back no way So come on What are you gonna do Won't you tell me What you're gonna do When your love grows wings When the levee breaks And the truth floods in And it hits you hard and And you start to spin There was a beginning to the end But you don't know when Love grows wings What are you gonna do When your life's on fire What are you gonna do When your life's on fire When your life's on fire Soul's gone dry Ain't got no more tears to cry Life's on fire What are you gonna do When it's all gone wrong What are you gonna do When it's all gone wrong When it's all gone wrong Nothing left to loose Can't do nothing but just sing the blues Sing the blues So come on… |

Walking | Michael Mann, Werner Garden | 1982
Band | Rusty Nails (done)

Good Time Squeezer (Melbourne Nights) | Michael Mann, Winfried Riemann, Werner Garden | 1981/2014
Band | Rusty Nails | ||

Leaving Home | Michael Mann, Werner Garden | 1981/2015
Band | Rusty Nails (done) Waiting For Louise
